Neil Simon takes us behind the scenes to the writers room for a fictional look at the chaos and comedy of the Max Prince show  a 1950′s  T.V. hit.

This is a hilarious salute to the comedy writers of televisions golden age.  Mr. Simon wrote for many years as one of the great writers for the Sid Caesar’s fabled “Show of Shows”  along with Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Woody Allen.

“Laughter” is about the camaraderie of the best writers in the country.   They grind out funny material for the weekly TV show.   The play is also about friendship, the break through of female writers, and a country in changing times. Everyone’s on eggshells with McCarthy’s blacklist and the networks finding the right shows and time slots for 1950′s television.

The Max Prince show is no “Father Knows Best” — This show will be a trip down memory lane if you are over 55 and a history lesson if you are younger.  NOTE: This Neil Simon show is PG-13 with strong language

Murder Mystery Night Photos!

May 16, 2011 No Comments » News, Shows

Thanks to all that arrived and survived the fabulous night of mayhem and murder at the “Driftwood Saloon”! Saturday, May 14th, 2011 will be known as the night they ‘done ol’ Mitch in’!! Yes that gamblin’ rogue “Mitch” was taken out by a single bullet, but …But who and why!??

There were fancy floozies and dandy dudes struttin’ their stuff and partyin’ strong!! Wheeln’ and Dealin’ was the name of the game!! Eatin’, drinkin’, dancin’ and singing, and some swoonin’  too!!

Ms. Cookie put on a great spread of wonderful food, supplied by the following generous benefactors:

  • Tybee Market IGA
  • North Beach Grill
  • Papas BBQ and Seafood
  • Publix
  • Parker’s Gourmet Deli

We even had food left over to take home a plate, and it was all included in the price of a ticket.

If you missed it, you will certainly hear tales floatin’ around Tybee. Good times were had by all, as the clues and lies were told by the talented cast and the patrons tried to solve the murder for a grand prize!!

But here are the pictures graciously taken by our lovely photographer Sherrie Simmons, a wiz on the camera…. catching the action as it happened…. ?? look below… is there a picture of the winning hand that got ol’ cheatin’ Mitch a bullet for his last meal!?

I see “Brandy” was standing mighty close to Mitch, as he was about to take his $100,000 prize, but took a bullet instead!!

Turns out three people actually figured out who did it, but I’ll bet they didn’t realize the “twist” in the motive!  One person was picked from the three correct ballots and a “Sherlock Kit” was awarded.

Prizes also went to the “Best Actor” and the “Best Costume”…..look below and find the ‘tall’ redhead with the sexy black ‘gitup’ on and you’ll see our well deserving winner of both prizes!!  Kim as “Miss Brandi” kept us all in stitches all night, keeping the patrons guessing at every turn! Debi Scott as “Anna Belle” was our music hostess and MC. Dressed as a saloon hall singer, she was right at home with her bold rendition of “Dr. Long John Blues”.
